Opening Night

GTSA RETURNS AFTER 15 YEARS!

The caretaker failed to turn on the heating but there were no frozen or waterlogged pitches at Maryhill Community Halls on Thursday 24th January when GTSA was re-born.  Founded in 1973 by David Houston, GTSA operated for the next 20 years, first at Victoria Drive Secondary School and then at Whiteinch Neighbourhood Centre.  Now, thanks mainly to Willie Fleming (bottom right) this centre of Subbuteo excellence has returned to the west end of Glasgow.  The club will meet fortnightly on Thursdays from the above date at Maryhill Community Halls.  Kick-off is at 7.00pm and tables shifted at 9.30pm.  Post-match discussion and  drinks are at the Woodside Inn.  Present on the night were Dougie Anderson, Baver Bari, Dave Butler, Dave Gladman, Willie Fleming, Gordon McQuater and Ezio Oru.

Club History

GTSA is the oldest surviving club in Scotland. In 1976 founding member, David Houston travelled to Malta to take part in the Europa Cup. Here is his report as it appeared in the STSA newsletter. Also a report on the GTSA which was in that same newsletter.
